L.A. Council members Nazarian and Jurado postpone swearing-in due to the fires
Newly elected City Council members Adrian Nazarian and Ysabel Jurado postponed community swearing-in ceremonies scheduled for this weekend in response to the ongoing fires ravaging Los Angeles and its environs.
In an email, Nazarian notified his constituents that his event scheduled for Saturday will be postponed as a result of the dangerous wind conditions and unprecedented fires.
“Our collective safety and well-being must be our number one priority,” he wrote.
The ceremony will be rescheduled for a future date.
Similarly, Jurado postponed her community swearing-in ceremony scheduled for this weekend, according to a representative from her office.
Details will be released at a later date once finalized.
Nazarian represents the Second District, including North Hollywood, Studio City and Sun Valley, among other communities. Jurado’s 14th District encompasses parts of downtown and northeast neighborhoods such as Boyle Heights, Eagle Rock and El Sereno.
