$625,000 I Am Invincible Colt Sold by Widden
Widden Stud’s investment in elite mares has been paying off in the sale ring this week at Magic Millions with an I Am Invincible colt from Nomothaj capturing the attention of one of the big stallion syndicates on Friday morning.
The third foal of stakes-winning Snitzel mare Nomothaj was secured by China Horse Club/Newgate Bloodstock/Kia Ora Stud for $625,000.
“He’s a really gorgeous horse out of a fast Exceed And Excel mare and pleased to get him for the syndicate,” said Henry Field.
“We bought him with the normal partners and Kia Ora Stud is involved in him, too. He reminded me of Kings Gambit, that style of a horse where we had a success with a third in the Slipper for our partnership.
“Hopefully he can be as good a racehorse and retire to Newgate when he finishes his career on the race track.
“It was a fair price for him. That was where we thought it would sit and we were happy to pay it.”
Nomothaj was bought by Widden Stud for $1.2million at the 2023 Magic Millions when in foal to I Am Invincible with this colt the result of the mating.
She produced a Zoustar filly last year and is back in foal again to the champion sire.
Another high profile broodmare purchase has been Steal My Kisses, who was sourced from the 2023 Inglis Chairman’s Sale for $550,000 when in foal to Farnan and her colt from that mating fetched $650,000 when bought by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing/Kestrel Thoroughbreds/Kia Ora Stud/David Redvers.
A stakes-winning three-quarter sister by I Am Invincible to Group I winner Ulanova, Steal My Kisses is now in foal to Zoustar.
