Snow to start the weekend in tri-state area
NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Friday felt much better as the winds finally eased during the day. Late at night, a storm system slides well south of the tri-state region and New York City will be just the northern fringe of the snow. In the end, we may just have a few snow showers late Friday night into Saturday morning.
Skies will be clouding up into the overnight hours on Friday night. The cloud cover will keep temperatures near 30 degrees.
Scattered snow showers will develop well after midnight on Friday night, and it will continue through Saturday morning before it tapers off. Accumulations will be light, between a dusting to a coating for most areas. Some spots may see an inch at most.
The sun may break through the clouds on Saturday afternoon, with temperatures topping in the mid 30s. A gusty wind will kick up heading into the evening making it feel much colder.
Sunday will be a pleasant January day and probably one of the best days we have had in a while. It will be sunny with highs backing up to around 40 degrees.
Temperatures will continue to hold at around 40 degrees on Monday, but a cold front will bring back the chilly wind for the middle part of next week. Afternoon highs will be in the lower 30s between Tuesday and Thursday, before it starts to moderate back up by next Friday.
