Whitehall awarded $2 million to replace sewer lines
WHITEHALL, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The village of Whitehall is receiving $2 million from the Community Development Block Grant to replace the sewer lines. Community members and businesses are still being asked to limit water use more than a month after the water system failed.
Officials blamed the failure on a water main break and a separate leak that took months to locate. The dry conditions from summer and fall 2024 also made it difficult for the system to pump enough water from Pine Lake, the village's only water source.
Village leaders previously said they need more state and federal funding for water system upgrades.
