Far-right activist: Strip LA of the 2028 Olympics as punishment for not stopping wildfires
Far-right youth activist Charlie Kirk demanded that Los Angeles be stripped of the right to host the 2028 Olympic Games over not being able to hold back this week's devastating wildfires, The Daily Beast reported on Friday.
“The Los Angeles Olympics should be cancelled,” Kirk posted to X. “If you can’t fill a fire hydrant, you aren’t qualified to host the Olympics. Move them to Dallas, or Miami, so the world’s athletes can compete in a place capable of actually safely building and running something.”
Yesterday, Kirk, who runs the group Turning Point USA and helped manage some of President-elect Donald Trump's voter outreach operations last year, suggested on his talk show that California was unable to extinguish the fires because they don't have enough "white men" firefighters.

Many residents of Los Angeles, including firefighters themselves, have expressed frustration with the difficulty in getting enough water to fight the fires; however, part of the issue is the unprecedented demand for water to be pumped to high elevations to deal with fires in the mountains, as well as the hurricane-force winds spreading embers in neighborhoods around the city.
But misinformation continues to spread about the cause of the water shortages, frustrating state officials who are still trying to resolve the emergency.
Trump, for example, proclaimed with no evidence that California Gov. Gavin Newsom was allowing water to flow into the Pacific Ocean rather than divert it to fight fires. Meanwhile, tech billionaire Elon Musk, who runs the X platform, has promoted conspiracy theories from Alex Jones that the fires are “part of a larger globalist plot" to destroy America, and suggested that California's fire departments have been crippled by diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs.
