ROSSCAHILL (2.58 Ffos Las, nap)

He has looked potentially more than a handicapper when scooting in on both starts around here. Nigel Twiston-Davies steps him up in trip here which looks another wise move. There’s a lot more to come with soft ground ideal.

BEAT BOX (3.31 Ffos, Las, nb)

He has won six of his seven races since moving to Dan Skelton and can land another victory. He had 16 lengths in hand when scoring at Kelso latest and he can cope with a 10lb rise in the weights. This trip suits and he’s scored on testing ground before.

ARANTES NASCIMENTO (3.45 Newcastle, treble)

He looked an improved model after a wind op when a tight second here 33 days ago. He would have won with a clearer run and can make amends from 2lb higher in the handicap.

Templegate’s TV verdicts

NEWCASTLE

2.00

SOL CAYO showed his rivals a clean pair of heels when scooting in over course and distance 25 days ago.

He was in front a fair way out but kept going strongly so a 7lb rise shouldn’t put the brakes on given he’s won off this mark before.
Lerwick did well to be beaten less than two lengths here last time.

He tried to make all into a strong wind and was picked off in the closing stages. He isn’t ruled out on this step up in distance.

Midnight Lion has won both his starts since joining Jim Goldie with those victories coming over this course and distance.

He’s going up in class here but should be on the premises again under Paul Mulrennan.

Alpine Sierra was behind Midnight Lion here last time but he didn’t get much luck in running and is 5lb better off at the weights today. That should bring them closer together.

Urban Road is another who didn’t get the breaks in that race and he saves his best for this course and distance.

3.45

ARANTES NASCIMENTO looked an improved model after a wind op when a tight second here 33 days ago.

He would have won with a clearer run and can make amends from 2lb higher in the handicap.

Streak Lightning has been knocking on the door including when a close-up second here last time.

He’s back off the same mark and will be right there again in a wide-open race.

Stablemate Bobby Joe Leg is better in blinkers and they go on for the first time this season. That could make a difference for the veteran.
Callianassa has gone close on her past three visits to this track and dropping back a furlong may help.

Lahab has useful form around here too and is another to consider after a good effort last time over six furlongs.

CHELMSFORD

1.30

CARLTON is in blistering form and brought up a hat-trick over this course and distance on Thursday.

A 5lb penalty won’t put the brakes on for his in-form trainer and this son of Frankel can make it a four-timer.

Sullivan Bay was just behind the tip when they met last month and he’s 10lb better off with him at the weights. He stays well and looks rock solid each-way.

Blue Sky Boy was a close-up third at Wolver on Tuesday when trying this trip for the first time. It brought plenty of improvement and he’ll be on the premises again.

Albert Lasker enjoyed dropping down to this distance when winning at Southwell 13 days ago. A 4lb rise for that gives him a chance with relatively few miles on the clock.

Tradesman has run well here before and was back to form when third at Southwell latest. He’s in the each-way picture.

2.10

WINDSOR PASS has been working up to a win and this looks a decent chance to lose her maiden tag.

She has been knocking on the door over this trip and ran another good race at Newcastle 14 days ago. A repeat of that would take her close.

Rising Force has a good record around here and went close over this trip on Thursday. He’ll have every chance if turned out again quickly.

Ravensbourne enjoyed stepping up to this trip when a close-up third at Newcastle last week. He’s had a 1lb nudge down the weights which does no harm.

Mashaan has been going well at Wolver with a first and second since Christmas. The victory came over this distance and he’ll be competitive again.

Till It Shines wasn’t disgraced at Wolverhampton last time and her rider takes off a valuable 7lb. She needs to raise her game but could be in the places again.

2.40

APIARIST has run two cracking races this all-weather season, winning at Newcastle on comeback before matching that effort when a close second there on New Year’s Day.

A 2lb rise for that latest effort gives him every chance again and there’s more to come from Kevin Ryan’s hope on the sand.

Quiet Resolve got the job done very nicely at Newcastle last time and has been given a little break by trainer Richard Fahey. He likes this trip and he’s yet to finish out of the first three in seven runs on the all-weather.

William Haggas runners are always respected at this level and his Altmore was less than two lengths off the pace at Wolverhampton last time. Stepping up to this mile looks a wise move and he won’t be far away.

Eagle Day has won his past two runs at Wolverhampton over a slightly longer distance. He’s scored at this mile too and is respected despite his rising handicap mark.

Waiting All Night ran his best race for a while when beaten just a length on Boxing Day. He returns from the same mark and is in the each-way hunt again.

Hat Toss comes from in-form James Owen and he was a winner the last time he ran over this course and distance.

3.15

WE NEVER STOP was just caught near the line at Newcastle last time in a stronger race than this. He is best over this trip and should make another bold bid.

New trainer Jack Morland has been firing in the winners and his Batal Dubai scored over 7f at Lingfield on New Year’s Eve. A 2lb rise gives him every chance as he’s proven over this trip and track too.

Brooklyn Nine Nine flew home to win on the line at Southwell last time. That was over 5f but he’s won over this extra furlong before and should be competitive.

Blind Beggar was chinned yards from the line after making all at Wolver last time. He will have to pull out a bit more from 2lb higher but is in the each-way picture again.

If you ignore the last poor run of Amazonian Dream, he comes right into the picture. He has solid form over this distance and is just 2lb higher than his last win. It would be no shock to see him bounce back.

Watch the betting for clues about Sevensees on debut for canny Stuart Williams.

FFOS LAS

1.15

HANDSTANDS has everything going for him after an impressive Grade 2 success at Sandown last time. He bounced back from his debut tumble and jumped well under Ben Jones.

Dropping back in trip holds no fears in what should be testing conditions and there’s more to come.

Cherie D’Am crossed her fences quickly when winning a Warwick Listed contest by seven lengths last month. That was over a similar trip and she’s another who likes soft ground.

Her mares’ weight allowance will come in very handy.

Saint Davy was no match for Handstands last time when a couple of errors proved costly. He looks more of a stayer but that was a promising chase debut.

Lord Of Thunder was held in a handicap at Exeter last time and has plenty to find, as does Karuma Grey who won a minor contest around here 23 days ago.

2.25

SAUNTON SURF went close at Lingfield two runs ago and wasn’t disgraced at Doncaster last time. She likes cut in the ground and trainer Warren Greatrex is in decent form.

Diamatiste was just pipped at Exeter last time and likes this trip and testing going. He’s up 5lb but should be competitive again.

Jesuila Des Mottes has had just three spins over timber and showed promise at Southwell last time. Her opening handicap mark isn’t the most lenient but she’s on the upgrade.

Getaway With You has gone close on his past two starts and has place prospects again.

2.58

ROSSCAHILL has looked potentially more than a handicapper when scooting in on both starts around here.

Nigel Twiston-Davies steps him up in trip here which looks another wise move. There’s a lot more to come with soft ground ideal.

One Big Bang has gone close on his two starts in handicap company. He particularly loved the bottomless ground when second at Haydock so should enjoy these conditions.

The first-time cheekpieces may help and trainer James Owen is flying.

West To The Bridge hasn’t progressed as he might have and found this trip a bit testing at Sandown last time.

Up For Parol may be a better bet for third after finishing ahead of him last time and he’s back from the same mark.

3.31

BEAT BOX has won six of his seven races since moving to Dan Skelton and can land another victory.

He had 16 lengths in hand when scoring at Kelso latest and he can cope with a 10lb rise in the weights. This trip suits and he’s scored on testing ground before.

Ostrava Du Berlais has improved since going over fences with two wins. She was convincing at Taunton last month and saves her best for soft ground.

Charlie Deutsch and Venetia Williams are a potent partnership over fences.

Triple Trade wasn’t disgraced at Cheltenham last time and is down the weights. He could nick third ahead of Sir Psycho who needed the run at Newbury last time after seven months off.

FAIRYHOUSE

1.45

THE KING OF PRS has run two crackers in hot handicaps this season, including when going down in a head-bobber at the Christmas meeting here.

That built on an excellent second at Fairyhouse on comeback. He has a nice low weight over his favourite trip and should be right there again.

Lets Go Champ was a good third in the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham and is a lb lower back in Ireland.

He jumps well and stays a bit further so shouldn’t run out of petrol.

Mullins and Townend team up with Hunters Yarn who did well as a novice chaser last season, finishing a good fifth in the Arkle.

He was rusty after a break at Cork last time and should be much more like it here.

Fils D’Oudairies is interesting on this drop from Grade 1 hurdling. His mark of 136 looks lenient on this return to chasing.
