Live updates: Ohio State and Texas meet in Cotton Bowl for spot in national title game
ARLINGTON, Texas (WCMH) -- In a meeting of powerhouse football programs, eighth-seeded Ohio State takes on No. 5 Texas at the Cotton Bowl with a spot in the national championship game on the line.
The teams meet for the first time since the 2009 Fiesta Bowl. The Buckeyes are in a playoff semifinal for the sixth time since the playoff era began, and the Longhorns are in final four for the second year in a row. The winner will face Notre Dame in the title game on Jan. 20 in Atlanta.
A win would mark OSU's first at AT&T Stadium since 2018 when Ryan Day served as the team's interim coach. Ohio State is aiming to make its first championship game appearance since 2020.
