Youngsville man charged with vehicular homicide in Rayne fatal crash
CROWLEY, La. (KLFY) -- A Youngsville man has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash in Rayne in November, authorities said.
Billy Kritzer, 44, of Youngsville, is charged with vehicular homicide and reckless driving in connection with the death of Gilbert Price, Jr., 59, of Rayne Nov. 19.
Price was the father of KLFY reporter Kye Price.
Investigators said a 2002 Ford Escape driven by Kritzer was traveling east on U.S. Hwy 90 as Price was driving a 2000 GMC Sonoma west. The Escape allegedly crossed the center line into the westbound lane and struck the Sonoma head-on. Price was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to State Police, toxicology samples collected from Kritzer revealed the presence of illegal narcotics in his system at the time of the crash.
Troopers obtained an arrest warrant and booked Kritzer into Acadia Parish jail Thursday. Bond details were not released.
