Teen wanted out of Nevada arrested in Moreau
MOREAU, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A teenager wanted in Nevada was arrested during a traffic stop in Moreau on Dec. 27, New York State Police announced. The 17-year-old had an active arrest warrant from Las Vegas.
At about 8:40 p.m., state troopers stopped a vehicle on the Northway for a vehicle and traffic law violation, authorities said. The 17-year-old, who was a passenger in the car, was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt.
Police said the suspect initially refused to provide any information about who they were. When their identity was discovered, the investigation found that the 17-year-old allegedly had an active arrest warrant issued by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in Nevada.
According to state police, the teenager faces the following charges back in Nevada:
- Robbery with a deadly weapon
- Kidnapping
- Other felony charges
The 17-year-old was taken into custody, police said. The driver of the vehicle and two other passengers were also detained but were reportedly released later without criminal charges.
State police reported that the 17-year-old was arraigned at the Saratoga County Youth Part Court and remanded to the Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Facility as a fugitive from justice. The juvenile will remain there as they await extradition back to Nevada.
