Tony Award winning musical 'Parade' kicks off national tour at Proctors
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The musical "Parade" is kicking off public performances for its national tour at Proctors. To mark the occasion, the mayor of Schenectady presented the show with a key to the city.
“Schenectady now celebrates this performance and its enduring impact on the world of theater."
The touring production of the 2023 Tony Award winning Best Musical Revival is set to open on Saturday and run through Friday, Jan. 17. "Parade" is centered on the true story of Leo Frank, a Jewish factory manager who was wrongly accused of murdering a teenage girl in Atlanta in the early 1900s.
The tour features seven members of the Broadway revival company, including one Berkshire County native.
“This is where I saw national tours when I was a kid, and this was like the pinnacle of a professional theatrical experience to me, coming to this theater, so it’s kind of blowing my mind that I’m here now,” Caroline Fairweather said.
After its run at Proctors, the 32-week national tour will head to Minneapolis.
