'It is understood': Sky Sports reporter on United's interest in signing 26yo UCL striker - report
Manchester United are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani.
United have struggled for goals in the Premier League this season and want to sign a new forward to address their goalscoring woes.
Marcus Rashford’s imminent departure is another reason the club are trying to sign a forward in this transfer window.
Muani is one of the players on their radar. The French striker has not flourished since joining PSG, registering 11 goals and seven assists in 54 games.
The relationship between the 26-year-old and manager, Luis Enrique, has broken down. Enrique has left him out of the squad for the past two league matches.
PSG have decided to part ways with the French striker this month and are ready to let him leave permanently or on loan with an obligation to buy.
United want to seize the opportunity to lure him to Old Trafford but have not made any concrete move to sign him, according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth.
He told Sky Sports: “PSG forward Randal Kolo Muani remains a player of interest to Manchester United.
“However, it is understood there has been no further contact since United’s initial enquiries.”
Man United risk missing out on Muani
There is stiff competition for the French striker.
He is wanted by Tottenham Hotspur, whose priority this month is signing a forward. Muani’s ability to play across the front three makes him an enticing target for the club.
Juventus and AC Milan are also interested. The former believe they are in pole position to sign him.
Man United must step up their interest to avoid missing out to other suitors.
They should be able to afford him without breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), particularly if they can get Rashford and Casemiro off the wage bill.
