Watch live: Biden to discuss economy after US added 256K jobs in December
President Biden will deliver remarks Friday evening about the state of the economy and the most recent jobs report, which showed the country added a whopping 256,000 jobs last month.
This report exceeded expectations, with the unemployment rate ticking down to 4.1 percent. Economists projected the U.S. to gain 155,000 jobs and hold the jobless rate at 4.2 percent, according to consensus estimates.
With just 10 days left in office, Biden is expected to tout his administration's work to boost the economy.
"Despite inheriting an economic crisis, we built back our economy from the middle out and bottom up," Biden wrote Friday morning on social platform X.
Biden and other key administration officials held a briefing on the federal response to ongoing wildfires in Southern California earlier Friday.
The outgoing president is slated to speak at about 5 p.m. EST.
