Samsung is holding one of its "Unpacked" events on January 22. At the event, the company is set to launch its new Galaxy S line of flagship phones, which are widely expected to be named the Galaxy S25 series.
Samsung has branded the event with the tagline, "The next evolution of Galaxy AI is coming," which suggests that AI-powered features will again be the primary focus of its latest flagship lineup.
As in previous years, the company is hosting a "reservations offer" through to January 22, ahead of the event. The relatively convoluted offer doesn't directly mean you're preordering a Galaxy S25, and some of the credit doesn't actually go toward the phones themselves, so we've clarified the offer below.
When you sign up for Samsung's reservation offer with your name and email address, you're not actually preordering, purchasing, or getting a $50 credit toward a new Galaxy S25. Rather, the specific $50 credit can only go toward an "eligible device," which Samsung hasn't specified. You'll likely get the option to apply the credit to one of Samsung's range of other devices and accessories, like the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro wireless earbuds or phone cases.
If you decide to move forward with your preorder on January 22, you'll be able to pay for the phone and apply the $50 preorder credit to an additional eligible product.
However, when you move forward on January 22, Samsung will also give you up to $300 in additional credit for qualifying products, though the company hasn't yet made it clear what the qualifying products are. It could be toward a Galaxy S25 phone, with varying credit amounts depending on the model you buy.
Trade-in values for your old phone will also likely be at their highest when the new devices are announced and released. Samsung says you could get up to $900 for your old phone, depending on the model and condition.
In total, Samsung's reservation offer could amount to up to $1,250 in credit. Whether you want to upgrade to a Galaxy S25 phone sight unseen or are waiting to see what the lineup entails, taking up Samsung's reservation offer is a no-brainer that could net serious savings.
Also, simply applying for the reservation, without even following through on a purchase, enters you for the chance to win a $5,000 Samsung gift card.
If the lineup's yet-to-be-announced pricing is similar to the Galaxy S24 series (still among the best Android phones you can buy), Samsung's trade-in offers could get you one of the latest Galaxy S models for free.
