Sam Alito thrashed by MSNBC analyst for 'entirely inappropriate' Trump call
MSNBC legal analyst Joyce Vance on Friday hammered Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito for taking a phone call from President-elect Donald Trump shortly before he was due to issue a ruling on Trump's criminal sentencing in the Manhattan hush-money case.
Appearing on Andrea Mitchell's show, Vance was asked about Trump talking with Alito on Tuesday to purportedly ask him about a former law clerk as a prospective candidate to work in his administration.
"I think the answer about whether the call should have taken place is unequivocally no," Vance said. "It was entirely inappropriate for Justice Alito to have this call with the president-elect knowing that this case was headed towards the court."

Vance then went on to question Alito's honesty.
"And what's particularly discouraging in this entire scenario is that Justice Alito, when called on it, his response was that he didn't realize that this was about to hit the court," she said. "Every other legal analyst, and probably people in the grocery store checkout lines and your plumber and people serving you dinner at the restaurant, everyone knew... So that really struck in a very disingenuous light."
Vance argued that it appeared the Supreme Court now appears to be totally unmoored by any ethical standards.
