New information released on fatal Jan. 2 Church Point house fire
CHURCH POINT, La. (KLFY) -- New information has been released on the fire in Church Point in which a Pennsylvania man died Jan. 2.
Preliminary autopsy results released by the Acadia Parish Coroner's Office indicate Isaiah Harrison, 34, of Pennsylvania, died from smoke inhalation. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for Harrison’s funeral costs.
Acadia Parish Fire District No. 7 responded to a call for a house fire at the intersection of Mire Highway and Higginbotham Highway.
The Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office said investigators have been unable to rule out an electrical malfunction after finding evidence of improper wiring associated with unauthorized utility access, but deputies are continuing to collect and evaluate information from the community.
Investigators said this home did not have working smoke alarms.
