7 people injured in massive Bronx apartment fire: FDNY
ALLERTON, The Bronx (PIX11) – At least seven people were injured when a fifth-alarm fire sparked in a Bronx apartment building on Friday, according to the FDNY.
It broke out at 2910 Wallace Ave. in Allerton around 1:40 a.m., fire officials said. The fire, which started on the top floor of the six-story building, escalated to a fifth-alarm blaze around 2:50 a.m.
Nearly 200 firefighters are responding to the fire, according to the FDNY. Another three buildings also caught fire as 20 to 30 mph wind gusts fanned the flames, officials said.
Five firefighters and two civilians were injured, fire officials said.
More than 160 residents were displaced, according to the Red Cross. If you're a resident of the building and seeking assistance, you can go to the reception center at P.S. 076 The Bennington School, the Red Cross said.
