PNW rain returns with latest cold front Friday
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The dry and sunny stretch of weather comes to a close Friday as another January cold front swings through the Pacific Northwest.
Heavy rain slows through the morning hours around the Portland, Vancouver area as Oregon's latest front moves east. Despite the name "cold front," temperatures will remain slightly warmer than average on Friday. Afternoon temperatures are expected to warm into the upper 40s to low 50s along the Willamette Valley.
The greatest rain accumulation will fall during the early morning hours on Friday. Nearly a quarter of an inch to 0.35" of rain is possible as light rain showers continue through Friday and Saturday. A few breaks in the clouds will give moments of dry, mild weather, while others could see light rain late into the day and weekend.
Snow levels will fall to nearly 2,000' as showers begin to dry. Snow accumulation will return to many of Mt. Hood's ski areas on Friday. A few additional snow showers are possible into the weekend.
A much drier weekend is expected compared to last weekend as temperatures remain near average. Another dry stretch of weather takes shape next week as sunshine returns to the Pacific Northwest.
