Carville: Reported $40M budget for Melania Trump Amazon documentary 'breathtaking'
James Carville questioned the $40 million budget for Melania Trump’s documentary set to debut on Amazon Prime later this year.
“You can produce a world-class documentary for $2 million. I know it,” Carville said during a Thursday interview with Politicon.
“You couldn’t spend $40 million on a documentary if you tried 10 times harder to do it, so where’s the money going? Well, we know where the money is going,” he said. “And to Bezos, whose worth, I don’t know, $400 billion this is all chump change.”
"It's breathtaking," he added.
“And I don't know, somebody better look into this, but they could make a documentary on the history of the universe and couldn't spend $40 million," he continued.
Amazon recently donated $1 million to President-elect Trump’s inauguration, as did Meta, Google, Chevron and a host of other companies that may be seeking the incoming president’s good graces.
The former first lady has largely retreated from the spotlight after exiting the White House in 2020. She rarely made appearances on the 2024 campaign trail outside of a brief speech at Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally.
Her private life as a mother, former model and wife to the commander-in-chief is rumored to be unveiled in the upcoming documentary.
