Tottenham reveal how many games Rodrigo Bentancur will miss
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou was back in front of the media today ahead of the FA Cup clash against Tamworth and Spurs fans now have a new update on Rodrigo Bentancur.
As is standard in press conferences which are held at the Hotspur Way training ground, Postecoglou was asked for an injury update on his Tottenham first-team squad prior to the cup tie on Sunday afternoon.
Tottenham vs Tamworth in FA Cup
Tottenham come into the game against Tamworth in good spirit after ending a four-game winless streak with a 1-0 win against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg.
It was a spirited performance by the Lilywhites as a goal from Lucas Bergvall was enough for Spurs on the night.
Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies, Wilson Odobert and Destiny Udogie all remain sidelined.
James Maddison and Pape Matar Sarr were suspended for the clash but are now available for selection. Rodrigo Bentancur, however, had an injury scare after picking up a head injury when attempting a diving header.
He has since provided an update on his well-being in a post on his Instagram. Mikey Moore and Fraser Forster were fit enough to make the bench after recovering from illnesses. In comparison, Radu Dragusin played all ninety minutes.
Tamworth, on the other hand, come into the game after losing 1-0 to Sutton United in the 4th round of the FA Trophy. The National League club are winless in their last three.
How many games will Rodrigo Bentancur miss for Tottenham?
The boss revealed that none of Tottenham’s long-term injured contingent would return in time for the FA Cup fixture, but obviously, James Maddison and Pape Matar Sarr are back from suspension.
The biggest news came in the form of a Rodrigo Bentancur update, with Ange Postecoglou revealing that the midfielder will miss the next two weeks for Tottenham. In good news, Bentancur is said to be back home and doing well, and Spurs will now follow the protocols to make sure he is fit to return.
Postecoglou told the Tottenham media team: “It looks like a concussion but nothing more than that. He was in the hospital, obviously, and they did all of the tests in terms of checking, making sure everything is okay.
“And all good. He is back home. He is fine. He is feeling good. We’ll obviously follow the protocols now. I think it is a couple of weeks where you have to make sure everything is okay.”
That means Bentancur will miss Tottenham’s FA Cup match against Tamworth, the North London Derby against Arsenal, the Premier League match away to Everton and maybe the Europa League game against Hoffenheim.
