Tottenham star could make injury return against Arsenal – Postecoglou says
Ange Postecoglou says that one injured Tottenham man could be in line to make his return during the North London Derby later this month if all goes to plan over the next few weeks.
Tottenham still awaiting the return of key men
Spurs’ injury situation has been extremely frustrating this season, with the club regularly losing new players to injury just as others edge close to a recovery.
The Lilywhites are still without the services of Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie, Wilson Odobert and Richarlison, all of whom are on the treatment table.
It emerged earlier this week that Richarlison had returned to training alongside Mikey Moore, and Postecoglou has now provided an update on the Brazilian’s return date.
Postecoglou reveals when Richarlison will be back
The Brazilian had a 2024 to forget, picking up one injury after another throughout the calendar year, and he will be hoping that 2025 brings better fortunes on the fitness front.
Postecoglou has confirmed that the former Everton man is back in training but revealed that he will be assessed closely over the next two weeks before he is given a chance to play.
When asked about Richarlison, the Tottenham boss told The Atheltic: “He is training. The whole plan with him, with what has happened this year, was to give him two full solid weeks of training. His second week will be next week and if he gets through that he will be fine.”
When quizzed on when the 27-year-old could feature, Postecoglou responded: “All being well, we’re hoping by Arsenal next week (January 15) he should be available.”
Richarlison’s days at Spurs are numbered
Even if Richarlison manages to stay fit for the rest of the season and makes a decent impact over the coming months, it does appear as if this is likely to be his last campaign at Tottenham.
With the club seemingly in the market to sign a new forward like Randal Kolo Muani, the Brazilian’s fate appears to have been sealed. This is unfortunate, given that he was in exceptional form this time last year, which was the last time he had a sustained run in the team.
