It’s the Wee Edinburgh Derby later today as Hibernian FC’s under-18s take on Hearts at the Hibernian Training Centre!
The CAS U18 Elite League fixture will take place on Friday 10 January, 2025, kick-off is at 6pm.
Supporters can attend the game for free and cheer on the wee Hibees!
The Lowdown
Darren McGregor’s youngsters come into the game off the back of a tricky run of form having been beaten by Rangers and Kilmarnock in their last two outings.
Despite those defeats though, Darren McGregor’s youngsters sit third in the CAS U18 Elite League behind the aforementioned sides.
They currently have 27 points from 14 games, having only been beaten three times all season. Our youngsters have a game in-hand over second-placed Kilmarnock and are just five points behind them, whilst they are seven points behind leaders Rangers.
Our Opponent
Hearts’ U18s are currently eighth in the CAS U18 Elite League with 13 points from 13 games.
This match will be Hearts’ first game back after the winter break. In their last outing they were beaten 3-2 at home by Queen’s Park. Their last victory came at the end of November as they beat Hamilton Academical.
Previous Meeting
The two sides met at the start of September, in what was an entertaining game.
Owen Calder opened the scoring for the Hibees at Oriam just after the half-hour mark, but Hearts equalised two minutes later. Owen Muirhead capitalised on a long ball over the top, showing good composure to take the ball around Hibs goalkeeper Ryan Mallon to equalise.
Hearts ended the game with 10-men, but the match finished 1-1.
