S14E33 SWPL January 2025
In the first women’s football podcast of the new year, Dave is joined by returning guests Casey and Grant to discuss what’s been happening in the SWPL lately.
With Glasgow City currently in the driving seat at the top of the league, they discuss what that might mean for the title challenge. Has the Rangers title challenge faltered due to a lack in midfield? Will Celtic, free from the distraction of Europe, have a stronger second half to the season? Will Hearts and Hibernian continue to keep it interesting at the top and make it a five team title race?
Further down the league table there’s a lot to discuss as well from who’ll make the top six to who the relegation candidates are, particularly that third from bottom spot which is currently only separated by goal difference between Montrose and Aberdeen.
They also discuss who the stand out players have been so far this season, what the BBC Scotland TV deal might mean for the SWPL, and have a preview of the weekend’s action – assuming the weather permits it!
Turning briefly to the national team, they are of course currently managerless with the departure of Pedro Martinez Losa. Hopefully there’ll be someone in place ahead of the upcoming Nations League campaign which starts towards the end of February.
Thanks as always for listening!
