Spain donates 1 million Euros in humanitarian aid to Afghanistan
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Afghanistan has announced that Spain has provided a one million euro (1.1 million USD) aid package to Afghanistan.
The organization stated on Thursday, January 9, through a message on its X page, that this aid is aimed at providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.
According to OCHA, the winter season has worsened the economic crisis in Afghanistan, and the organization will continue its efforts to improve the lives of the people.
Meanwhile, as the cold season sets in, several international humanitarian organizations have raised alarms about the increasing need for humanitarian aid for the population of Afghanistan.
On Tuesday, January 7, the special trust fund for Afghanistan also announced a 1.56 million USD contribution from Luxembourg to support humanitarian aid efforts in the country.
Recently, the World Food Program in Afghanistan expressed concerns about the ongoing economic crisis, adding that millions of people are in urgent need of assistance.
At the same time, OCHA in Afghanistan has published a report stating that in 2025, about 5.8 million people in Afghanistan will require urgent shelter and non-food items, with an estimated need of 179 million USD to address this situation.
Afghanistan continues to face significant humanitarian challenges, with both local and international organizations striving to provide essential support. As the crisis deepens, ongoing international cooperation and aid are crucial to alleviating the suffering of the people in the country and addressing their urgent needs.
