Pakistani Army launches missile attack on Kunar, Afghanistan
Local sources in Kunar have reported that the Pakistani military has launched a missile attack on the Sarkani district of Kunar.
According to the local sources, Pakistani forces carried out missile strikes around 2:00 AM on Friday, January 10, targeting the Nava crossing and several other areas of Sarkani district.
The source added that following the missile attacks, residents of the area fled their homes and relocated to other regions.
The Taliban has not officially commented on the incident.
This comes after the Pakistani military previously bombarded parts of Paktika and Khost provinces.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan confirmed that the country had conducted an intelligence operation against Pakistani Taliban militants in the border regions of Afghanistan.
The attack left dozens dead and injured.
Islamabad has accused the Taliban of harboring the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Afghanistan, but the Taliban has denied this claim.
In response to Pakistan’s attacks, the Taliban stated on December 30, 2024 that its forces had launched retaliatory strikes on Pakistani soil.
The increasing cross-border military actions between Pakistan and Afghanistan continue to raise tensions. The lack of clear communication from both the Taliban and Pakistan’s military complicates the situation, making it harder to gauge the true impact on civilians and regional stability.
The ongoing conflict highlights the need for diplomatic efforts to address the security concerns of both nations while ensuring the protection of innocent lives.
