Topeka Zoo takes Christmas trees longer than anticipated
TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Topeka Zoo & Conservation Center will take Christmas trees for a few more days after a weekend blizzard may have made it hard to travel.
The Topeka Zoo posted on social media that Christmas tree drop off has been extended after the capital city received more than 14 inches of snow on Jan. 5. The deadline to drop of trees is now Sunday, Jan. 12.
"It has obviously been less than ideal to be out and about to do said tree drop offs, so we are grateful to be adding some additional days while we thaw out!"
Social media statement excerpt from Topeka Zoo Facebook page.
If you would like to drop off your Christmas tree, the zoo asks that all ornaments, tinsel, hooks, tree stands and plastic bags are removed from the tree for the safety of the animals. Donated trees can be dropped off on the southeast side of Gage Park, east of the horseshoe court parking lot.
