Standoff involving police in downtown Topeka ends
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Topeka Police have ended an eight-hour standoff in downtown Topeka.
According to a news release from the Topeka Police Department (TPD), officers responded to the 1100 block of Southwest Fillmore Street on a report of aggravated robbery before 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9. As the investigation continued, police got involved with a possible barricaded individual related to the robbery.
Topeka Police told a 27 News reporter at the scene that the standoff has ended around 8:30 p.m. According to the news release, the Topeka Police Criminal Investigation Bureau is on scene. An investigation is ongoing at this time.
