Watch live: Senate Democrats unveil priorities for next two years
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and other top Democrats will hold a press conference Tuesday afternoon to outline top priorities for the next two years.
Vice President Harris gaveled in the 119th Senate late last week, after swearing in the new members. The upper chamber approved its organizing resolution Monday, setting up the composition of committees and greenlighting the nomination hearings for President-elect Trump's Cabinet and administration picks, set to take place in the coming weeks.
"The new Congress has begun and @SenateDems are ready to fight for you," Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (Ill.) wrote Thursday on social platform X, paired with a video of senators in his party introducing themselves.
Their remarks are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. EST.
