Prince Edward represents House of Windsor at Jimmy Carter funeral
Prince Edward represented his brother King Charles III at former President Carter’s funeral on Thursday.
The fourteenth in line to the British throne sat next to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the funeral at Washington National Cathedral. President Biden greeted the two on his way out of the cathedral.
The prince paid his respects to Carter earlier in the day as the late president lied in state in the Capitol.
King Charles honored Carter in a statement following his death last month.
“He was a committed public servant, and devoted his life to promoting peace and human rights. His dedication and humility served as an inspiration to many, and I remember with great fondness his visit to the United Kingdom in 1977,” the king wrote.
“My thoughts and prayers are with President Carter’s family and the American people at this time,” he added.
