NBC4 Today Traffic Anchor Kristine Varkony and husband welcome first child
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — After weeks of anticipation and concern during a challenging pregnancy, NBC4 Today Traffic Anchor Kristine Varkony, along with her husband, Michael, announced the birth of their first child.
On Wednesday, Varkony shared the news via social media with a heartfelt post and a photo of the precious newborn in her hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
“Michael II 'Mickey' was born Saturday,” Varkony wrote. “We’re both going to take a while to recover from his very sudden birth but are getting stronger every day.”
The new mother also expressed gratitude for the people who encouraged and uplifted the couple as she chronicled their journey through a series of Instagram Reels. “Thank you for supporting my husband and I over these past six weeks while I was hospitalized,” said Varkony.
Additionally, Varkony acknowledged the efforts of their caregivers, whose help ensured the safety and well-being of the new family, “… thank you to the hospital and NICU staff for taking such good care of all of us during this time.”
The post quickly garnered an outpouring of love and congratulations from friends, colleagues and viewers, who admired the family's newest addition and wished them health and happiness as they embarked on this new adventure.
