01/09/2025: Some Milder Weather to Look Forward to
The Latest Storm Tracker Forecast from Meteorologists Matt Mackie and Kevin Appleby:
We do have milder, more seasonable, less windy days ahead in our 7 day forecast! First, however, we have one more cold and blustery day to get through this Thursday. A storm passing to our south will bring light snow to much of the region Saturday morning.
Winds will once again gust up to 45-50 MPH in parts of the viewing area. A Wind Advisory has been issued for some southern Counties through this evening.
Temperatures will be a bit milder than yesterday, so we can call it one small step for man. Most areas beat 20 degrees this time around, but it will feel colder with the persistent winds.
It will remain windy, especially this evening. This will keep actual air temperatures elevated, with lows in the teens for many areas. Of course, wind chill value will continue to be much lower, near or below zero.
Friday morning may still be a bit on the breezy side, but calmer conditions are anticipated for the afternoon to go along with a mixture of clouds and sun and milder temperatures. Some areas will see readings in the 30s for the first time in a while. Clouds will increase Friday evening ahead of a system passing by to our south.
This system will bring a period of scattered light snow showers, which, at this time, generally looks to accumulate a coating to 2 inches across the region. Drier weather will follow up the snow for Saturday afternoon.
High temperatures will continue to trend milder as winds continue to be a non-factor over the weekend. Highs will get back freezing by Sunday.
Clouds and flurries return to the forecast for Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures close to freezing. More sunshine and chillier weather awaits us for next Wednesday with high temperatures dropping back in the low to mid 20s.
