Deborra-Lee Furness' Reported Reaction to Hugh Jackman & Sutton Foster’s Photos Is Rather Surprising
Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster are no longer hiding their romance after their Monday, Jan. 6 “paparazzi walk” was their official coming out party as a couple. While the Broadway duo seem ready to spotlight their love, it has to be a hard situation for their exes, Deborra-Lee Furness and Ted Griffin.
We don’t know how Griffin feels since he stays out of the spotlight, but pals close to Furness are speaking up to the Daily Mail. “Deborra-Lee feels a sense of relief, to be honest with you,” the insider revealed. “She has been plagued with suspicions. She was told it wasn’t true, and that they were nothing more than close friends who worked together.”
Those images gave her the confirmation that she needed to move on from her 27-year marriage to Jackman. Even though they split in September 2023, the emotional aspect of any split is difficult. “She trusted her intuition and her intuition was right,” the source added. “She finally feels at ease after getting confirmation that her fears and suspicions were warranted. She can now fully close this chapter and move on.”
This might be the only time fans hear Furness’ side of things because her friend claimed that “she has nothing more to say” about Jackman and Foster. The only other clue that Furness gave fans that an alleged affair occurred was her “like” of an Instagram reel from pop culture influencer Tasha Lustig in November 2024.
A source also told Us Weekly that the Wolverine star “didn’t own up” to his fling with Foster. Furness was open to reconciling, but Jackman was invested in his romance with the Younger star. The reported affair was described as “Broadway’s worst-kept secret,” and sadly, “Deborra-Lee was the last to know,” per the media outlet.
It seems that Foster and Jackman weren’t shy about flaunting their flirty friendship and the clues were in front of everyone’s face. Look no further than the 49-year-old actress’ July 2022 appearance on Live With Kelly and Ryan.
She shared their pre-show ritual where they spent time alone together in her dressing room to “just catch up.” Foster gushed about it being the most “wonderful thing” because it helped them bond as “good friends.” She added, “That’s been one of the best parts of the whole thing, that I’ve made this wonderful new friend.”
Well, Furness probably didn’t appreciate her husband’s close friendship with his female co-worker, but now, she isn’t looking back at her history with Jackman — this time is for her.
