Ben Affleck Is Taking Refuge With Jennifer Garner After Evacuating LA Wildfires

Los Angeles has endured a terrifying 36 hours as five fires raged over the city due to dry weather and high winds. Pacific Palisades, an area favored by many Hollywood celebrities, has seen heartbreaking damage and destruction. Ben Affleck, who purchased a $20.5 million home in the area last summer, was one of the stars who had to evacuate their residences on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Affleck was spotted by Page Six looking rather worried as he exited his property. Wearing a blue coat and a white button-down shirt, the 52-year-old was laser-focused as he headed to ex-wife Jennifer Garner’s nearby Brentwood home to be with her and their three children, Violet, 19, Fin, 16, and Samuel, 12.

The Argo star’s evacuation came on the heels of his finalized divorce from Jennifer Lopez just the day before. The former duo worked with Hollywood divorce attorney Laura Wasser to mediate the financial details of their split. TMZ reported that no one is getting spousal support, and both stars will keep their personal earnings from the marriage and yes, J.Lo gets to keep that rare green diamond engagement ring. 

Still, one narrative in their split seemed to revolve around Garner, who remained a constant in Affleck’s life despite his romance with Lopez. “J.Lo felt threatened by Jen Garner for almost all of her marriage. The way Ben would run to her for advice any time they had a fight drove her crazy,” an insider told OK! Magazine. It seems like three was a crowd. 

Lopez wasn’t the only one who took issue with Affleck and Garner’s friendship. Garner’s boyfriend, John Miller reportedly struggles with their relationship. “Ben’s constant presence is very hard to take, John’s like the third wheel in his own relationship,” an insider told Life & Style. Still, People confirmed with a source in December 2024 that Garner is “very happy” with Miller. 

There’s no word yet on how Affleck’s bachelor pad fared, but it was supposed to be the residence for his next chapter. For now, he’s seeking comfort with his kids at Garner’s home as she offers him shelter during a very scary time in Los Angeles.
