'It's an honor to be chosen:' 'The Chefs' to represent Bills Mafia at the Super Bowl
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Two members of Bills Mafia are hoping they have the winning recipe to become the NFL's Fan of the Year.
Derrick Norman and Richard Peterson are hard to miss at a Buffalo Bills game. The two can usually be seen near the front row wearing their signature chef hats. They're known to Bills Mafia as "Chef Norm" and "Chef Poo," a play on Winnie-the-Pooh.
The two friends have been bringing all the energy to Bills games since the 1990s.
"We just thought it was going to be for giggles and just a little fun," Norman said. "It took off, blew up, now we're going to the Super Bowl because of it."
Earlier this season, "The Chefs" won the Buffalo Bills 2024 Fan of the Year. Hall of famer Jim Kelly presented the two with tickets to the Super Bowl in New Orleans. The Chefs said they are excited to go and represent Bills Mafia.
"It's an honor to be chosen out of everybody in that whole stadium to be fan of the year. That means, it seems, like we're doing something right," Peterson said. "Something they appreciate and we just have a good time with it."
"I can't be more excited," Norman said. "Hopefully we can get NFL Fan of the Year."
The Chefs said the only thing that would make the Super Bowl experience better is if the Bills go too.
"It'll be amazing. It'll be like a dream come true," Peterson said. "To win Super Bowl tickets, to win fan of the year and then your hometown team makes it there, it would just be an awesome feeling."
"Loss for words with that one. I'm going to be so excited if the Bills go, I'm excited anyway because we going, but if the Bills go, I know the mafia is going to show up," Norman said. "We're going to come in droves down there."
Voting for NFL Fan of the Year ends on Feb. 5. You can cast your vote here.
