Hudson receives over $600K in home repair grants
HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Hudson is investing in the health and safety of single-family owner-occupied housing and residential units for low and moderate-income people with disabilities. After receiving $640,000, the funding supports several repairs for those in need.
Homeowners interested in applying can complete a pre-application through the city's website or by calling (518) 828-7217 before Monday, February 10. The city will select projects based on the severity of need, eligibility, and feasibility of the home.
Those eligible for part of the $520,000 HOME grant for single-family owner-occupied homes must have an income at or below the 80% Area Median, which is $57,800 for a household of one and $66,000 for a household of two. Repairs include plumbing, electrical, roof, and structural repairs.
The $120,000 Access to Home grant for low—and moderate-income residents with disabilities allows tenants and homeowners to modify their homes to improve their accessibility. Modifications that can be made include handrails, wheelchair ramps and lifts, roll-in showers, and doorway widening.
Hudson Mayor Kamal Johnson said the two grants will address critical safety repairs among residents. He said the grants would directly improve residents' lives.
"Additionally, the Access to Home Grant will allow us to create handicap-accessible residential units for low- and moderate-income homeowners, breaking down barriers and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to live comfortably and independently," Johnson said. "These grants represent our commitment to building a more inclusive and supportive community for all."
