Kelly Clarkson’s 8-Year-Old Son Subtly Roasted His Mom After His Singing Video Went Viral
Loyal fans of The Kelly Clarkson Show (and Frank Sinatra fanatics) will remember fondly when Clarkson’s son Remington “Remy” stole the show last year with his surprise rendition of a Sinatra classic. The 8-year-old helped “warm up the audience” before the show by singing “My Way.”
The crowd went [understandably] wild and the video went [understandably] viral because Remy — who Clarkson shares with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, along with 10-year-old daughter River — has some serious pipes and serious confidence. Dressed in a fun graphic sweatshirt and jeans, Remy belted out the beloved Sinatra song while sneaking smiles at his mom and sister.
The video has 2.86 million views on YouTube — and counting!
“Lil man got blessed with the Clarkson talent. And so personable too,” one follower said, because it’s clear the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
And on it went:
“Ummm can we talk about his phrasing and timing? The way he held ‘eaccch’ …so clean and pure!” “WHAT???!!! That was not just cute, that was actually GOOD!!!! WOW Remy!!! Well done little man!!!” “What’s the surprise? His mama is the FIRST AMERICAN IDOL WINNER! He has good genes! Go little man, show them how it’s done!”
Remy and River joined their mom again on the show today. The “Since You’ve Been Gone” singer asked her son how it felt to go viral. “How many views did I get again?” he asked with a cheeky grin, making his family laugh.
Clarkson recalled telling her son when he topped more than 1 million views. “And he goes, ‘Do you get that many views?'” she said, imitating her son’s impish tone. It was a hilarious and subtle roast that we have no doubt will stick with the Grammy winner.
“I was like, ‘Calm down,'” she continued. ” … and not often'”
If you want to see more of little Remy, you’ll have to keep your eyes and ears out for his supposed stage name. The “Miss Independent” singer brought her son as her plus one to the 2024 Grammy Awards, and he revealed how he wants to be known.
While walking the red carpet, someone asked him, “And what would you like your name to be?”
“I was about to say ‘Remington Blackstock,’” Clarkson said, “And he said, ‘Remington Alexander.'”
“I was like, ‘Oh, we’re going by our first and middle name. OK,'” Clarkson continued. “And he let me know that day that that’s what he wanted to go by for his stage name, I guess. I don’t know. It was really cute.”
