Food cart vendor beaten unconscious during Manhattan robbery: sources
MIDTOWN, Manhattan (PIX11) – A food cart vendor was beaten unconscious while he was being robbed in Manhattan on Tuesday, sources told PIX11 News.
It happened in the Midtown North Precinct around 10:30 p.m. A man walked up to a food cart, removed the plexiglass from the beverage display and hit the victim, a 33-year-old man, until he passed out, according to the NYPD.
The victim was also hit in the back of the head with an unknown object, police said.
The suspect is believed to have taken $3,555 from the cart before he ran from the scene, according to authorities.
The victim was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, police said. No arrests have been made.
