Catskill schools address 'unauthorized student' on secondary campus
CATSKILL, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Catskill Central School District superintendent sent a message to parents about an incident that happened on the Catskill Secondary Campus.
Dr. Dan Wilson said an "unauthorized student" was in the building throughout the school day with the help of current Catskill students, who attempted to hide their presence. A Hold in Place was issued, but the unauthorized person was not found as they had already left the building.
The superintendent said they left without incident after being confronted by staff. The district will also be pursuing charges against the unauthorized student.
"Please be assured that we take matters of safety very seriously. In collaboration with local law enforcement, we are pursuing charges against the unauthorized individual. Additionally, while this is an ongoing investigation, the behavior of the students involved will be addressed," Dr. Wilson said in his letter.
Dr. Wilson also said the district will conduct a review of the incident to strengthen security protocols as necessary.
