New Yorkers and tourists endure the cold weather
MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- The cold chill was in the air but it didn't stop people from venturing out into the city.
They were bundled up in fur, scarves, gloves, and what have you to try and stay warm. Many of them were visitors, including a couple from Argentina here on a special occasion.
"It's much warmer down there," they acknowledged but noted they were in New York to celebrate their honeymoon. They gushed, "We loved Central Park and are now waiting for snow."
We found another visitor who left Mexico to say hello to winter in New York. He managed to get acclimated to the cold temperature. "I actually have four layers of clothes," he confessed, adding, "It's really cold."
With many folks staying in, deliveries were at a high with bikers whizzing through the streets. Some folks found the weather just fine to climb a Citi Bike. "The weather is nice," bellowed one rider, adding. "View good, I go uptown, downtown. It's just a little cold that's all."
While people bundled up, so did our furry friends to keep warm.
One woman all bundled up waiting for a bus said, "I stay indoors a lot but still do my running in Central Park in the morning. As long as I get out I'm good for the day."
With a dusting of snow covering the ground, Central Park was still a good spot to take a walk, a jog, or a romantic carriage trip around the park, or one of those pedi cabs for a couple of folks from California. Bundled under a blanket, they declared, "It's crazy we're loving it. Except for the wind, it's cold, but we're dealing with it."
Hearty New Yorkers this time of year have learned to endure the cold weather. There are a couple more days ahead of us. But it may warm your heart and your mind to know that Spring is just ten weeks away.
