The Curry 12 ‘Year of the Snake’ Is Releasing Soon — Here’s the Only Place You Can Buy It
You can now add Curry Brand to the list of athletic giants with sneakers celebrating the Lunar New Year.
Arriving this month is the Curry 12 “Year of the Snake,” a new colorway of the latest signature basketball shoe of NBA star Stephen Curry.
To execute this theme, Curry Brand — the athlete’s Under Armour-backed company that launched in November 2020 — placed two-toned snakeskin uppers atop red Flow sole units.
The uppers feature scaly snakeskin patterns executed in black and gold on the heel counter, as well as the TPU side wall. Also, the shoes include red hits throughout and are completed with black and metallic gold laces.
Further cementing the theme, one tongue features the brand’s Splash logo and the other has the Chinese characters “乙巳,” which Curry Brand stated translates to “2025 Year of the Snake.”
The Curry 12 “Year of the Snake,” however, won’t be sold everywhere. Curry Brand confirmed the basketball sneaker will be available exclusively in the Asia-Pacific region. It is slated for a Jan. 9 release and will retail for $140.
The Year of the Snake will begin on Jan. 29.
In the meantime, other colorways of the Curry 12 are available now via UA.com and retail for $140. In terms of tech, the highlight of the shoe is UA Flow, which includes light and bouncy, dual-density UA Flow cushioning and durable UA Flow outsoles. Also, the shoe features breathable engineered mesh uppers with durable overlays, as well as a multisegment forefoot plate for support and midfoot shank for stability.
Curry Brand has been busy making major moves as of late. For instance, the brand made its retail debut in September 2024, opening a 3,300-square-foot location in Chengdu, the capital of southwestern China’s Sichuan province. Also in September 2024, Curry Brand revealed the first details about NBA star De’Aaron Fox’s first signature shoe, the Fox 1, which has since released in several colorways.
