Want to work for NYC government? Seasonal jobs open in Parks Department
NEW YORK (PIX11) – If you're looking for a career change to kick off the new year, the New York City government wants to hire seasonal workers to care for its parks.
A city park worker would help maintain the parks by doing tasks like mowing, seeding, fertilizing, cleaning park bathrooms, performing safety checks, and more. The gig lasts from January through October and you'll be working 40 hours per week, according to the JobsNYC website.
The salary is $18.71 an hour. Seasonal employees earn sick and annual leave and get free memberships to city recreation centers, and if they work for six months or longer, become eligible for health care benefits.

The Parks Department is also looking for an associate park service worker. They're tasked with driving vehicles and other motorized equipment, maintaining equipment, landscaping and grounds, supervising other employees and keeping records.
The salary is $24.49 an hour. An associate park service worker has the same benefits as the city park worker.
Applicants must have a commercial driver's license (CDL) to apply for the position, according to JobsNYC. A civil service exam also might be required for the position.
