Human remains identified as missing man from Hudson
HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The human remains found in Hudson near Mill Street, have been identified. City of Hudson police confirmed the remains were of missing Hudson resident, 63-year-old Robert Coons.
On December 9, city police responded to a call that a survey crew on Mill Street found skeletal remains. Detectives confirmed the remains were human and of an adult but were waiting for a further forensic report.
On January 3, 2025, police said a femur bone was tested and determined it was Coons. Coons was reported missing in July 2023.
According to police he was last seen 325 Columbia Street wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt. In the following months, police and investigators conducted multi-agency searches and offered a reward for his return.
According to the department, the investigation into his disappearance was still active when the remains were found. As of Tuesday afternoon, police say the cause of death is undetermined, but an autopsy does not suggest there were any signs of trauma or foul play indicated.
