Here's the role every Trump family member will have — or won't have — in the White House
- Some Trump family members may serve as unofficial White House advisors in his second term.
- After serving as a senior advisor during Trump's first term, Ivanka Trump will not reenter politics.
- Charles Kushner and Massad Boulos, Trump relatives by marriage, will have formal White House roles.
President-elect Donald Trump's family members may not hold as many formal White House roles in his next presidency as they did during his first term, but they'll still remain important parts of his political operation.
Melania Trump will return as first lady. Charles Kushner and Massad Boulos, both fathers of Donald Trump's sons-in-law, will also serve in the Trump administration.
Donald Trump's youngest son, Barron Trump, has begun venturing into politics and advising his father on appealing to young voters. Other Trump family members like Ivanka Trump and Tiffany Trump will remain out of the spotlight.
Here's a rundown of how Donald Trump's relatives will — or won't — be involved in his administration.
During Donald Trump's first term, Melania Trump fulfilled first lady duties such as planning state dinners, promoting children's well-being with her "Be Best" campaign, and decorating the White House for Christmas.
Still, she was also known to break White House tradition and defy expectations of the role.
She made infrequent appearances with her husband on the 2024 campaign trail and declined Jill Biden's invitation to meet at the White House after the election, indicating that she will likely play by her own rules during Trump's second term.
CNN reported that Melania Trump is "unlikely" to live at the White House full-time.

Cofounded by former Bank of America executive Omeed Malik, 1789 Capital defines itself as "anti-ESG," which stands for environmental, social, and governance. Instead, it focuses on "EIG," or entrepreneurship, innovation, and growth.
The VC firm has funded former Fox News host Tucker Carlson's independent media company, among other ventures, Business Insider previously reported. Trump Jr. is joining the firm as a partner.

Guilfoyle advised Donald Trump's 2020 campaign and made numerous appearances at rallies and events in support of his 2024 run. She also served on the 2024 RNC platform committee.
Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle have reportedly broken off their engagement after six years of dating, but Guilfoyle will remain in the Trump orbit as ambassador to Greece in Donald Trump's second White House administration.
"For many years, Kimberly has been a close friend and ally," Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Her extensive experience and leadership in law, media, and politics along with her sharp intellect make her supremely qualified to represent the United States, and safeguard its interests abroad."
Representatives for Guilfoyle did not respond to a request for comment.
When Donald Trump launched his 2024 campaign, Ivanka Trump announced that she was stepping back from politics.
"I love my father very much," she said in a statement shared on social media. "This time around, I am choosing to prioritize my children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics. While I will always love and support my father, going forward, I will do so outside the political arena."
She made a few appearances with her father during the campaign but largely returned to her life as a socialite. In a July interview on the "Lex Fridman Podcast," Ivanka Trump reiterated that she did not plan to return to politics, calling it "a rough, rough business" that is "at odds with what feels good for me as a human being."

Kushner told Axios in February that he would not rejoin the Trump administration as a senior advisor for a second term, but CNN and the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom reported that he would serve as an unofficial advisor, building on the relationships he formed with leaders in the Middle East while brokering the Abraham Accords.
Representatives for Kushner did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In a Truth Social post, Donald Trump called Charles Kushner "a tremendous business leader, philanthropist, & dealmaker, who will be a strong advocate representing our Country & interests."
Donald Trump pardoned Kushner, a billionaire real-estate developer who pleaded guilty to tax evasion and witness tampering in 2004, during his first term. Kushner donated $1 million to Donald Trump's super PAC in 2023.
Eric Trump has served as an advisor throughout Donald Trump's presidential runs, frequently appearing at rallies and on cable news. He remains the executive vice president of the Trump Organization, overseeing the Trump family's luxury real-estate portfolio as he did during Donald Trump's first term.
New York Attorney General Letitia James led a yearslong investigation into allegations of fraud at the Trump Organization. In February, the civil fraud case resulted in a $364 million penalty against Donald Trump and other company leaders. The Trump Organization denied any wrongdoing and appealed the verdict.

Lara Trump was voted cochair of the Republican National Committee in March after receiving Donald Trump's endorsement.
She shared the job with Michael Whatley, a Trump loyalist and former North Carolina's GOP chair. Together, Lara Trump and Whatley oversaw the RNC's platform and funds, further cementing Donald Trump's hold over the Republican Party.
Some GOP members, including Alabama Sen. Katie Britt, Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, and Florida Sen. Rick Scott, called on DeSantis to appoint Lara Trump to the Senate seat that Sen. Marco Rubio will vacate if he is confirmed as secretary of state.
In December, Lara Trump stepped down as RNC cochair and wrote on X that she'd decided to withdraw her name from consideration for the US Senate, but teased a forthcoming "big announcement."

Tiffany Trump, a Georgetown Law School graduate, has attended a few campaign events and shared occasional supportive messages and videos on social media but has never been active in politics.
Unlike in 2016 and 2020, she did not speak at the 2024 Republican National Convention.
She and her husband, Michael Boulos, are expecting their first baby.
Representatives for the Trump transition team did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Boulos joined Tiffany Trump at the Republican National Convention and a few Trump campaign rallies in the days leading up to the election, but has not otherwise been involved in politics.
Massad Boulos, a Lebanese-American businessman who owns an automotive company in Nigeria, campaigned with Donald Trump in Michigan ahead of the 2024 election in an effort to reach Arab-American voters.
In a Truth Social post, Donald Trump called Boulos "an accomplished lawyer and a highly respected leader in the business world" and said he was "instrumental in building tremendous new coalitions with the Arab American Community" during the campaign.
While Boulos was widely reported to be the billionaire owner of the Nigerian company Boulos Enterprises, it is owned by a different Boulos family.
Boulos previously told The New York Times that his company, SCOA Nigeria, was worth billions. It's actually worth about $865,000, the Times reported. Boulos later said that he was referring to his father-in-law's business ventures — his wife's father, Michel Zouhair Fadoul, is a wealthy Lebanese businessman who runs The Fadoul Group.
There's also no proof that Boulos is an "accomplished lawyer" as Donald Trump described him. A Business Insider investigation found that while Boulos listed a law degree on his LinkedIn profile, he does not appear to be licensed to practice law in any of the countries where he's lived.
"The truth is Mr. Boulos is a highly respected businessman who has proudly served as the CEO of some of his family's group of companies based in West Africa for more than 27 years, and his family has employed tens of thousands of people around the globe," Trump spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt previously told Business Insider in an email, adding that media reports questioning Boulos' credentials were "fake news."
Ahead of the 2024 election, Barron Trump began venturing into politics after turning 18, serving as an at-large Florida delegate at the Republican National Convention.
In an August interview with streamer Adin Ross, Donald Trump shared that Barron Trump had told him to appear on the show, saying, "Dad, he's really big."
While Barron Trump will be busy with his studies at New York University during his father's second term, he may continue offering advice to appeal to young citizens.
