Amazon to fork over $40M for Melania Trump documentary: report
Amazon this week announced it would be distributing a documentary about Melania Trump — and now it's been revealed that the online retail giant will pay a hefty price for it.
Puck News' Matthew Belloni reports that Amazon has agreed to fork over $40 million to license the documentary, which was directed by Brett Ratner, a one-time action movie director who has been out of work since he was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women.
According to Belloni's sources, Amazon will not only get the rights to distribute the Melania documentary, but will also host a "previously undisclosed two-to-three episode follow-up docuseries" on Melania, who will apparently be participating in both projects.

Revelations of the massive payday for the Melania documentary comes as multiple tech firms, including Amazon and Meta, have been forking over big donations to Trump's inauguration.
Trump has reportedly been keeping track of which corporate titans have been donating and which ones haven't, Rolling Stone recently reported.
"In the past few weeks, Trump has at times asked close allies about how much major corporations have donated to the inaugural committee, and has sometimes inquired about specific companies by name," the publication reported late last year. "Earlier this month, when the president-elect asked about one big-name corporation and was told it hadn’t donated, Trump replied, 'Well, they better do it soon then.'"
