'The View' & 'Today' Anchor Meredith Vieira's Husband Richard Cohen Passes Away After 50 Year Battle with MS
Morning news anchor Meredith Vieira, who has worked on the Today show and The View, has confirmed the death of her husband Richard Cohen.
Richard passed on Christmas Eve at the age of 76. He had battled multiple sclerosis for over 50 years and had also survived two cancer diagnoses in his lifetime.
On the Today show on Tuesday (January 7), Hoda Kotb announced he passed “surrounded by his family and love” including wife Meredith and kids Lily, 32, Gabriel 34, and Benjamin, 36.
Around Thanksgiving, the family grew “concerned they were going to lose him early. Instead, they got a glorious month with their dad.”
Today‘s Savannah Guthrie added, “She’s in really good spirits. She was such a beautiful and devoted wife to Richard and he adored Meredith. And hanging out with them, they were like the most fun and entertaining, irreverent, cool couple you could hang out with.”
Meredith and Richard were married for 38 years. He was diagnosed with MS at the age of 25.
Our thoughts are with the family and his loved ones during this time.
