PATH fare increase 2025: What to know
NEW JERSEY (PIX11) – Garden State commuters will pay more to come into New York City not just by car, but also by train starting this month.
According to the Port Authority, an automatic fare adjustment was triggered because of inflation. The new fare will apply to SmartLink, Tapp, and MetroCard users.
The fare increase comes days after the start of congestion pricing in New York City and toll increases on Port Authority bridges and tunnels.

How much will it cost?
PATH train fares will go up to $3 for one-way trips, a 25-cent increase from the current fare of $2.75.
When do fares go up?
Fares will increase on Jan. 12, marking the first fare adjustment since October 2014.
Does it apply to all forms of payment?
The new fare will apply to SmartLink, Tapp, and MetroCard users.
Is there any way to get discounts?
Discounts are available for SmartLink multi-trip fares, unlimited passes, and seniors SmartLink cards.
Commuters can buy 10 trips for $28.50, 20 trips for $57, and 40 trips for $114. That amounts to $2.85 per trip.
Alternatively, travelers can also buy unlimited passes at $11.50 for one day, $39.25 for seven days, and $120.75 for 30 days.
Riders 65-years-old and older can apply for the Senior SmartLink Card which allows them to pay $1.50 per trip.
