Bitterly cold temperatures stick around through midweek
What We’re Tracking
- Very cold Tuesday
- Struggling to warm up through the week
- Moderating temperatures by the weekend
Temperatures are below zero for most this morning with a few clouds filtering through. Luckily, our winds are light, but still just enough to produce wind chills near -10° to even -15°.
That cold air lingers through much of the week. The snow on the ground will have a difficult time melting much even with sunshine. Highs will generally be in the upper 10s to near 20° through midweek.
Even with some melting from the sun, any water on roadways will refreeze overnight as overnight lows drop below zero again early Wednesday. You still want to give yourself a little extra time getting back out as slick spots are likely the next few mornings.
A storm system moving to our south Thursday night into early Friday could clip us with some passing areas of light snow, but that should quickly pass by us. By the weekend, temperatures should be climbing to near or just above freezing for a couple hours each day.
