Richard Edwards
The bedding expert said that from choosing the right material to proper care and maintenance, several factors can help recreate that luxurious comfort.
Richard said: “Your bed linen is the first thing you see in the morning and the last thing you see at night, so invest in bedding you love.
“By following the right tips, you can bring the comfort and luxury of a hotel stay into your own home.
“Investing in high-quality bedding, paying attention to thread count, and mastering the art of a well-made bed, means we can bring the relaxing and comfortable experience of hotel crisp linen right into our own bedrooms for a truly indulgent and restful night’s sleep.
“On top of looking pristine and inviting, it has a cooling effect that helps regulate body temperature while we sleep.
“The smooth, crisp texture of the fabric also provides a calming sensation, lulling us into a deep and restful slumber.”
Invest and look after bedding
When aiming for hotel-standard linen, Richard says it’s key to invest in good-quality bedding staples.
He explains: “These include high-thread-count sheets, down comforters, and plush pillows.
“Although they may cost a bit more upfront, they will last longer and provide a luxurious and comfortable experience.”
Once you have the right bedding, it’s also important that you wash it regularly to keep it fresh and clean.
Richard adds: “Sheets and pillowcases should be washed at least once a week, while duvet covers and comforters can be washed every few months.
“This will prevent dirt, oils, and bacteria buildup, resulting in softer and more hygienic linens.”
Washing tips
How we wash our bedding actually has a big impact in how it feels.
Bedding pros say we should be using a gentle detergent suitable for delicate fabrics and avoiding harsh chemicals and bleach.
These can damage the fibres and affect the quality of your linens. Opt for a mild detergent designed explicitly for linens.
It’s important to then use fabric softener, which also gives linen a pleasant scent.
However, Richard warned: “Be careful not to overdo it, as too much fabric softener can cause a buildup on the fibres, affecting their absorbency and softness.”
Ironing our linen is key if you want to create the feeling of a hotel bedding[/caption]Store them correctly
Bedding pros have said that ironing our linen and storing it correctly can help keep our beds feeling fresher for longer.
Richard explains: “Ironing is a must to achieve that crisp and smooth look of hotel linens.
“Make sure to use a good quality iron and ironing board, and follow the instructions on the care label.
“This will remove any wrinkles and creases, making your linens look fresh and inviting.
He adds: “To ensure the longevity of your linens, store them in a cool, dry place.
“Moisture can cause mildew and musty odours, while heat can damage the fibres. Also, keep them away from direct sunlight, which can cause fading.”

As well as making sure it feels soft and fresh, for the feel luxurious hotel effect it’s important to make sure your bed looks the part.
And one thing that sets hotel linens apart is the plumpness of their pillows.
