Elementary, Middle, and Homeschool Results!
Wow! What a great weekend! 9 elementary school fencers, 5 middle school fencers, 3 homeschool teams, and 11 homeschool individual fencers! That’s a lot for 1 day!
Big thank you to our referees who kept everyone running on time throughout the day. Also thank you to Ms. Holly Green who helped me run the bout committee table so I can run other errands during the day!
Both Olivia McKinney and Isabella Lee went undefeated in their events, elementary and middle school, respectively. Olivia only gave up 9 touches for the entire day. Isabella only gave up 6 touches in her pool and had a close bout with teammate, Gideon Hartman, winning in the semi-finals 14-8. Isabella went on to defeat Brayden from Greensboro in the finals, 15-5.
Lucas Hein also had a great day, finishing and medalling in 3rd in the elementary event. Also congrats to Gideon Hartman and Samantha Potwin who tied and medalled in 3rd in the middle school event!
Congrats to the Southeastern Cardinals, winning 1st in the team event. The All-American Fencing Dead Squirrels took second with the debut of Gideon Hartman as a substitute 3rd team member. The Cumberland Musketeers took third place with a steady improvement from the previous tournament.

Junior Olympics in Charlotte, NC
On February 14-17, 2025, USA Fencing Junior Olympics will be held in Charlotte, NC. Isaac Canady is our only qualifier, however, Coach Gerhard and possibly some other students will be travelling to Charlotte not only to support Isaac, but many of the equipment suppliers will be on site! If you are looking to purchase equipment, purchase competition equipment, replace equipment, buy stuff you don’t need, but WAAAAANT, Charlotte Junior Olympics is the place to do it. You can also try on uniforms, shoes, etc., if you are looking to buy uniform pieces.
I will be travelling to Charlotte on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Isaac will be competing on that day at 8AM.
