Canoo to repay furloughed employees for ‘miscalculated’ paychecks following News 4 report
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Following a News 4 report sharing claims that troubled electric vehicle manufacturer Canoo did not properly reimburse furloughed employees for expenses, or pay them their final paychecks in full, Canoo now says the company realized it made a “miscalculation” and will repay affected employees.
On Thursday, News 4 reported numerous furloughed and former employees of Canoo — a publicly-traded electric vehicle maker — say the company did not properly pay them owed expenses and their final paychecks, possibly in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

On Saturday, two days after News 4’s report aired, a Canoo spokesperson reached out to News 4.
The spokesperson said, after seeing News 4’s report, the company realized it had made a mistake in how it calculated its employees’ paychecks prior to furloughing them last month.
The spokesperson said Canoo will pay the affected employees the proper amount owed to them within three business days.
The spokesperson sent News 4 the following statement on Saturday:
“Upon being notified of a miscalculation in the final paycheck of its furloughed employees, the company took immediate action to resolve the issue and ensure full compensation for those affected. Payments for the missed days will be issued within three business days. “
