B&M shoppers spot winter essential scanning for just 10p instead of £9 ideal for avoiding putting the heating on
B&M shoppers have spotted a winter essential that’s scanning for the bargain price of 10p and is the perfect alternative to switching the heating on.
As temperatures plummet across the country it’s the perfect time to pick up the winter warmer, which has been reduced from £9.
The shopper was delighted with her bargain buy from discount retailer B&M[/caption]The long hot water bottle is now just one per cent of its original price and shoppers are rushing to grab one.
The outrageous bargain was shared by a delighted shopper on Facebook page Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK.
She shared an image with the message: “I can finally say I have a bargain. An amazing one at that. 10p from B&M.”
Fellow shoppers were stunned with several saying they’d paid the full £10 for the same hot water bottle.
One said: “Great bargain for you.”
Another added: “Omg @*** and you paid £10 for mine.”
A third added: “Omg super jealous.”
The hot water bottle comes in a fake fur cover and several B&M fans said it was great for back pain or warming a bed.
B&M’s description read: “This soft and cosy long hot water bottle is the perfect companion for cuddles on the sofa or making your bed nice and roasty toasty on those cold nights.”
It comes in both light grey and cream.
The hot water bottle is still listed online with a price tag of £10, but the shopper revealed she used the B&M Scanner app to claim the discount.
The app can be downloaded for free on to your smartphone via the Apple App Store or Google Play.
It has a barcode price check feature which lets you scan product labels in-store to find out their true price.
It sometimes shows up products that have been slashed to just 10p, before the price has been updated in store.
But, just because one shopper found the bargain there’s no guarantee the item will be listed for 10p at your local store.
Retailers are allowed to sell products for different prices across their store estate and can reduce items where they see fit.
Of course, whenever buying something like this you should always check prices to see how it compares to those listed by other retailers.
You can do this through websites like Price Spy and Price Runner or quickly scan Google.
A quick search did not reveal anyone selling a long hot water bottle for such a tiny price.
Dunelm is selling a similar item for £9.80 and Boots for £8.49.
How else to save money at B&M
The best time to get cut-price products is 10am on a Wednesday, according to one ex B&M manager.
This is when staff slash items to as little as 10p to clear excess stock and make way for new products.
Keep an eye out for red sticker products as well, according to deals expert Tom Church.
These are put on special buy products that have been reduced in price.
It’s worth signing up to Facebook pages dedicated to hunting for bargains from B&M and other discounters too.

How to save money at B&M
Shoppers have saved hundreds of pounds a year by using B&M's scanner app.
The scanner lets you see if an item’s price is cheaper than advertised on the shop floor label.
Products that are typically discounted are seasonal items and old stock that B&M is trying to shift.
The app is free to download off the B&M Stores mobile app via Google Play or the Apple App Store.
According to one ex-B&M manager, you’ll want to visit your local branch at 10am on a Wednesday too.
Here’s how you can join the B&M bargain hunt:
- Download the B&M app for free on any smartphone with an App Store or Google Play.
- Once you’ve installed it on your device, click on the option labelled “more” on the bottom, right-hand side of the app home page.
- You’ll then find an option that says “barcode scanner”. Click on this and you’ll open a camera screen.
- Use the camera to hover over the barcode of the product you wish to check.
- If the price comes up as lower, take it to the cash desk and it will automatically scan at the lower price.
- You don’t need to sign up to the B&M app to use the barcode scanner.
